By way of introduction:
This series of articles describes in more detail how the 365 — 6 a.m. Challenge came about and how to implement it at the start of your day. They were originally posted to my Confident With Purpose FB group and on my Good Morning Cafe.
This morning I ‘m throwing down the gauntlet. Are you brave enough to take up the “365 — 6 a.m. Challenge”?
Several months ago, the Father challenged me to meet with Him at precisely 6 a.m. in the morning.
I tend to be a morning person, so the early hour suited me quite fine. At that time, the rest of the family would still be asleep. It would be perfect for a one-on-one with my heavenly Father.
The invitation had the feeling of a close friend inviting me to meet with him at a cosy cafe for a personable meeting over an early morning coffee.
I kinda liked the idea but had no clue what I was in for. After all, this was God calling…not my buddy from work or my neighbor down the street.
Yes, my relationship with God has a Father-son intimacy and warmth, but I never lose sight of the fact that the One I relate to as Father is also Almighty God, Creator and sovereign King of the Universe.
I accepted the challenge and set my alarm for 5:30 a.m., which gave me enough time to shower, dress and make a cup of coffee.
As I crawled into bed that night, I felt like a little boy anticipating a special adventure with his dad the next day. It took some time to get to sleep…and I was awake before my alarm went off the next morning.
The delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee awakened all my senses as I sat down on my comfortable chair wondering what to expect.
As is my habit, I greeted Father with my version of a Jewish blessing that has become very meaningful to me…
“Blessed are You, O Lord my God, sovereign and eternal King of the Universe, You have returned my soul within me with compassion and given me new life for this new day, great is Your faithfulness.”(a)
I sensed Father smile with pleasure.
He suggested that 3 Prayers That Start Your Day Off Right would be a good starting point for our time together.
Last year, Father help me formulate these morning prayers. They established a solid platform on which to start my day on the right track. They have become a daily morning routine and a treasured source of spiritual strength.
My heart warmed as I offered the prayers to His listening ear.
It was a very positive start to our 6 am appointment.
(More to come…)
